Kubo Tite is a phenomenal storyteller as well as artist, and I was disappointed to learn that his first series, Zombie Powder, was discontinued. I am so happy that such a talented mangaka has found popular support in his newest series, Bleach.
All the hype about Bleach is well-deserved. The story arcs flow seamlessly into each other and the characters have such strong personalities it's as if they've walked out of the page. Kurosaki Ichigo has always been able to see ghosts. He sees dead people as often as he sees live ones, so it doesn't bother him much. That is, until Kuchiki Rukia, a Shinigami (aka Death God, Soul Reaper), walks into his life. From then on, Ichigo is placed with a heavy burden to defend the defenseless souls and guide them to a spiritual place. In other words, he is to become a Shinigami!
