It is America in the late 1920s. Sister Rosette and her partner Chrno work for the Magdala Order in order to exterminate demons that disrupt the world...but they often cause trouble themselves! One of their missions to rescue the child Azmaria reveal that the girl is angelic in more ways than one, which also goes to unearth Rosette and Chrno's past. The pair must uncover what they have buried if they are to root out the trouble once and for all!

This manga has quite the story, after getting through the first "introductory" volume. All of the characters are fleshed out and woven so intricately that it is impossible to say who has the strongest relationship. But the relationship between Chrno and Rosette is the most touching and the conclusion to that relationship is what makes the ending so bittersweet and memorable.
